Biography of Piero Scibetta
Piero Scibetta, born on January 6, 1972, is a music producer, songwriter, and multifaceted figure in the Italian music and cultural scene. Active for over 30 years, he has built a career that encompasses various facets of the music world, from soundtracks for theater to promoting jazz concerts, in addition to his pioneering work in electronic music.
In the 1990s, Piero Scibetta founded the record store Mix Point in 1994, which quickly became a reference point for DJs in Lombardy, providing vinyl for major clubs and fueling the local electronic scene.
During this same period, he was one of the most influential PRs in Milan's nightlife, collaborating with the Shocking Club from 1994 to 2000. During this time, he was responsible for organizing Les Flour Du Mal, one of the most renowned events in Italy, frequented by figures from the fashion and entertainment worlds.
Throughout his career, Piero Scibetta's tracks have been included in hundreds of compilations, including some of the most prestigious and influential ones. Among these is the official compilation by Giorgio Armani from 1996, as well as those associated with Italy's most iconic clubs, including Byblos, Baia Imperiale, Prince, Just Cavalli, Old Fashion, and Toqueville, with the supervision and editing of Alex Zullo.
Scibetta has not limited himself to just electronic music; he has expanded his scope into the world of jazz. His collaborations include artists such as Guido Manusardi, Dennis Stern, Arup Kanti Das, and Alberto Viganò, with whom he organized high-profile jazz concerts. His versatility has also been expressed in composing soundtracks for theatrical performances.
Scibetta has collaborated with artist and friend Celio Bordin in a unique project: during Bordin's painting sessions, Scibetta sampled the sound of his fountain pen as he drew on the canvas. This sound was then used to create the track "Celio in L.A." to celebrate Bordin's move to Los Angeles, exemplifying how visual art and music merge into a single creative experience. They also participated in an extraordinary event at the Sole24Ore building, where Bordin presented paintings and sculptures, accompanied by electronic soundtracks created specifically by Scibetta.
A crucial aspect of his career has been the ongoing collaboration and friendship with Paolo Pozzi, co-author of many of his musical projects. Pozzi has been a key creative partner, contributing to numerous productions and expanding Scibetta's artistic range. Together, they have created works that reflect a deep and lasting musical synergy.
Scibetta has also collaborated with artists such as Black Legend, Danny Losito, Fabrizio Grecchi, Stefano D'Andrea, Gianni Morri, Franz del Pascia from Byblos in Riccione, Sandro Russo from Peter Pan in Riccione, and Luca Bestetti. These collaborations have further enriched his repertoire and solidified his influence on the Italian music scene.
Over the years, Piero founded the musical project Mood Collective, aiming to explore electronic music without predefined frameworks. In 2023, he released the album Cromium, entirely produced and mixed in his studio in Lecco, which received critical acclaim for its variety of sounds.
Today, Piero Scibetta remains active as a member of the Twister Music Milano team, a publishing collective where he works on unreleased music projects and collaborates with new producers, proving to be an innovative and passionate figure in the Italian music landscape.
